Mooney test is based on a steady state rotating rotor embedded in a rubber specimen, contained within a sealed in a pressurized cavity. The flow field has been studied by using the flow tracking technique and by numerical simulation. Particular attention is dedicated to determine the shear rate in Mooney viscosimeter, showing a non-inear regime from zero up to 2.5 s-1 at the border. This results clearly lead that the Mooney viscosimeter with flat rotor is not adequate to measure the shear viscosity because does not guarantee a unique shear rate in the chamber. Capillary rubber rheometry a consequent improvement to generate a constant shear rate in order to calculate directly the shear viscosity.

In 2005, He worked as Chief Technology Officer in ILVA Polymers and Vice President Technology in Cimentas. In 2015, he founded Rheonic Industrial Consulting to provide technical support for rubber industries globally. He has published more than 50 papers and holds 3 patents. He finished Ph.D in Macromolecular Science from Case Western Reserve University in 1997.
